MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY OF SERVICE

The Highland Park Human Relations Commission is sponsoring the Sixth annual Martin Luther King Day of Service on
January 19, 2015, 10-2 at the Recreation Center of Highland Park,
1207 Park Ave. W, Highland Park, IL.

Everyone is invited to join the day of service to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. The free event will include fun, meaningful projects to benefit homeless shelters, food pantries, veterans and soldiers, projects to help the poor in other countries of the world, pet projects and many more! Secretary of State Jesse White and the Jesse White Tumblers will perform.

There are three ways to be involved: host a project at a table, volunteer or attend and participate. Americorp and Vista members are welcome to call to volunteer.

*Please collect hotel size toiletries- shampoo, lotion. toothpaste etc for homeless shelters.
They can be dropped off at the Firehouse Youth Center 1830 Green Bay Rd. in Highland Park from 3pm-6pm weekdays or bring them to MLK Day event.

The Auxiliary of NorthShore University Health System at Highland Park Hospital is currently seeking new members. The Auxiliary has grown in members and in its support of Highland Park Hospital. Currently, the Auxiliary holds an annual summer event benefiting Kellogg Cancer Center in Highland Park. The event, "Be Part of the CURE", continues to grow as a way for community members to enjoy an evening as we charitably support our local hospital.

Please contact The Auxiliary office (847)926-5003 for more information on how you can become a member of The Auxiliary at Highland Park Hospital.

Volunteers are needed at Highland Park Hospital in the following positions:
•Clerical support for patient units and departments
•Concierge at our entrances
•Gift Shop volunteer sale associates
•Maintaining waiting areas
•Mobile meals drivers
•And several other positions throughout the hospital to better assist our staff, patients, and visitors

ASSIST STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

Volunteer to help enrich the lives of students with disabilities in the Northern Suburban Special Educational District (NSSED). Children ages pre-k through high school in several locations in Highland Park, Deerfield, Northbrook and Glenview. Volunteers are needed to assist in the classrooms, office, during or after school and also in the summer. There is a special need for trained volunteers who know and could lead classes in yoga and relaxation or music. Also, volunteers are needed to join our "Puppet Troupe" that performs disability awareness skits in local grade schools. Contact person is Teri Rosenberg at

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED FOR FAITH IN ACTION

Faith in Action Volunteers is looking for individuals interested in helping seniors get to their medical appointments. Volunteers will pick clients up at their home, drive them to their medical appointment, wait while the client is with the doctor, and then drive the client home.

Faith in Action provides secondary insurance as well as educational and training opportunities. Hours are flexible based on each volunteer's availability.
